New Members:  Guest was a previous member of Mustangs West Garrett Polehonka, rejoining Mustangs West this evening! Nice to see previous members return to our membership!
Business this month: Elections: Jim recapped the Nominations for the 2006 Board Positions: President: Adam Jones and those that Volunteered for the 2006 Board Positions: VP: Jim Cassidy; Secretary: Sara Sayers; Treasurer: Brenda Costanzo. All ran Unopposed and were Unanimously approved by the membership present. Congratulations! Thank you for coming forward and helping guide Mustangs West through 2006!
Outgoing Officers for 2005 (Chuck Casey-VP), (Wendy Minnieweather-Secretary), and (Karena Gutierrez-Trueasurer) were presented with a Rosewood Pen & Case with the Club Logo engraved on them expressing our appreciation for serving on the Club Board and their names engraved into the pens. Karena and Wendy were also given coffee cups with coffee and a Mustang Key Chain for also serving on the Club Board for 2004! Appreciation for serving as Club Board members was expressed by the membership in attendance!
New Business:
Was put out to the membership, if anybody had New Toys or had done anything with the Toys they have. Quite a few folks spoke up, can hardly wait to see them show off their Toys, around April or so this year!
Then we talk about creating a contest for our present members to bring guests to our meetings and also how many folks we could get to join Our Club! We’d have to update our membership application to include a Referral line, so that member would get points for having a referral join our membership. This contest is effective now and will go through the month of September with Prizes awarded for most Guests brought by a member to Our meetings and also how many people a member had join our Club! These Prizes would be awarded at the Progressive Dinner!
Also, it was brought up that we think we should come up with a point system to award members who participate in different events; i.e.: our meetings, car shows, parades, cruises, poker runs, breakfast outings and bowling events (really anything we can think of BBQ’s). Jim assigned himself and Sara (other duties as assigned) to try and come up with a point system, but I really think the whole New Board for 2006 will get involved in this.
Al was going to the Lakefair Parade Committee meeting on Monday, Feb. 6th and would check into Our Club being able to participate as a Club in their parade, plus the Committee needing convertibles too and would get back with us!

March 18th 9:00AM is the St. Patrick’s Breakfast at Elma’s Airport Diner, POC: Holly Jensen with a cruise to Kitsap Mall to follow, to see Kitsap Mustangs on Display inside the Kitsap Mall, of course there’s always shopping to be done too! Sweetheart Breakfast Cruise!
On February 18th, 2006 at 9:00AM!
By Wendy Minnieweather

Way back at the November 2005 meeting, Cheryl and I were asked to see if we could come up with a place in the Bremerton area to cruise up to a Breakfast in our neck of the woods so to speak! After all, we do come down to the Olympia area once a month for the meetings and dinner at the Tumwater Valley Bar and Grill Restaurant at the Golf Course!
Cheryl and I thought having a theme for the Breakfast was quite the idea, so why not make it a Sweetheart Breakfast! Mike and Cheryl Wright had eaten at Jimmy D’s in Belfair before and said that you get a lot to eat for a little amount of monies, plus the food was good too! Well, I know that our club likes to eat, and to get a lot of food for a little amount of money, well I knew we’d get the turnout for Breakfast, even though Cheryl was a little worried. I sent out a email to remind everyone of the Sweetheart Breakfast indicating we would also have a Sweetheart Bag to Raffle with the proceeds to go to our club account, we then had double our responses attending!
Cheryl kept in touch with Jimmy D’s to make sure they could accommodate at least 25 to 27 of us Mustangers!
As the days grew closer to the Sweetheart Breakfast, I did go out with an email that gave directions to Jimmy D’s from the meeting place in the Olympia area (Hawks Prairie McDonald’s) heading up I-5 across the Narrows Bridge on HWY 16 getting on Southbound HWY 3 to Belfair. Also, how get to Jimmy D’s coming up on HWY 101 to Shelton getting on HWY 3 Northbound from Shelton to Belfair, for a couple of our club members that live in the Elma area! However, Adam went out with an email on the 17th of February claiming he knew very little (I doubt that)! But that he was however going to be meeting members at ALLSTAR Ford westside of Olympia and heading up HWY 101 thru Shelton to Belfair, it was a shorter way for him and Shirley coming all the way from Rochester, WA! So, the invitation also went out to meet Adam & Shirley on the westside of Olympia if that meeting place was closer for anyone! All I know is that we, all of the sudden had members coming from different directions and we were all hoping everyone would be able to make the Breakfast! Come 9:00AM almost everyone that was coming to the Breakfast was there on time! Thank you again for making the Sweetheart Breakfast the success that it was!
At the Breakfast it turns out, most of us had quite the experiences this morning with the chilly air affecting our Mustangs or us in different ways, seems we all have some story to tell this morning about getting ourselves ready to come up to the Breakfast! I’m no different, seems we all wanted to wash our Stangs the day before the event, I took ½ day off work yesterday to get both Mustangs washed! Then I took the 88 to get washed (it’s a daily driver and really needed it) got home and took the 05 to the car wash came back and parked it in the garage for driving to the Breakfast. Looked at the 88 again and took it up to a different car wash (boy, that guy at the car wash really made tips on Friday is all I’m gonna admit too) to get the rest of the dirt off the Stang. Got it back home and it really looked good, I thought, maybe we’ll take the 88 instead to the Breakfast! Forgot one thing, it was really, really cold Friday night, I’m talking freezing both doors of your Mustang frozen, try and get in me now freezing! HaHa! The Hatchback opened, and I’m soooo glad my Sweetie did not have a camera in his hand or wasn’t anywhere around for that matter. Seeing me climbing through the back of the car with the Hatch wide open, getting it warmed up to move it, so we can now take the 05, because the 88 is parked in front of the garage door that the 05 is parked. Yes, I had to go back out the Hatch, because the doors didn’t open from the inside either. One thing I am happy about, was finding this out way before we were going to leave for the Breakfast and I had to go out to the car for my coffee cup that I left in the car the day before, after all it’s my Club Mug that I carry around! This only ONE of the stories told at breakfast, there were others, and one that didn’t wash his car, maybe he knew about the frozen doors? Oh well, I’ll look sharp on the road next week as I drive to work!
Anyway, all of those that came and joined us for the Sweetheart Breakfast and managed to get those Mustangs out of our garages or borrowed Mustangs to drive for the pictures taken after the Breakfast are the following members: Mike & Cheryl Wright, Robert Sr. & Wendy Minnieweather, Sara Sayers, Brad & Darla Wilkins, Brian & Jennifer Hurley, Adam Jones & Shirley Bluhm, Jim McCulloch & Judy Martin, Del & Nancy Wiggins, Karena Gutierrez, Chris & Nicki Hutchison with their kids Cameron and Chasen, Bryan & Jennifer Henry, and Jerry Dixon & Lucy Boggs. Cheryl came up with some scented candles for gifts to all the Ladies, after all it was a Sweetheart Breakfast! We also Raffled off a Sweetheart Gift Bag (contents included, a bottle of Dessert Wine from Columbia Crest winery in Paterson, WA, wine glasses, candy kisses, tall candles with heart shaped stand and a rose too, there may have been more, but Cheryl put the gift bag together, I just contributed some things). This was won by Bryan Henry and I do hope they enjoy it!
Del Wiggins was also going around with a sign-in sheet to keep track of our members who participated in this event today, which goes back to our last meeting of rewarding members around October of this year that have participated in a lot of events over the year! So let the games begin so to speak! Cheryl and I want to “Thank” all of you again for making the Sweetheart Breakfast the success that it was and hope all of you had a Great Time too!
Next events to write on your calendar besides our next meeting is a Rock-N-Bowl on March 4th, with Sara Sayers needing your responses by February 27th and then the MS car wash at the Walmart in Centralia with Sara Sayers needing volunteers to help wash cars from 10:00 to 4:00PM on March 11th and March 25th, plus another Club Breakfast! The Club Breakfast is a St Paddy’s Breakfast at Elma’s Airport Diner at 9:00AM on March 18th, so mark your calendar’s folks there is a lot going on in the month of March! Don’t forget Our Club meeting on March 2nd, see you there!

MAJOR PARADE NOTICE – DAFFODIL FESTIVAL!

WOW! This is a major event. Mark your calendars for April 22nd! This for Tacoma only! This is an ALL Mustang (no icky corvettes) parade/car show; sponsored by the Northwest Ford Dealers/Tacoma Events Commission (they put on the Tall Ships).
There will be a few LeMay cars but all the rest will be us (Mustangers)! Steve Hermans (425/870-8316) & Russ Wilcoxson (253/759-7211) need 73 Mustangs pre-parked along the parade route on display starting at 8:00AM. This is an ALL-DAY party for us and it is FREE. The Grand Marshall will be a Seahawk (big surprise). He will be in a LeMay car.
The Parade starts at high-noon. The party ends at 7:30PM.
ALL Mustang car clubs will have two or more cars with their banner in the parade. They will be parked at the end of the parade, one street up from Pacific Ave., on Commerce Street where the Tacoma Jazz and Blues Festival will be held.
The parade begins at 11th and Pacific. We’re talking Drill Teams, Puget Sound Pirates…you name it.
Please let Steve Hermans (Parade Chair of MNW)(425/870-8316 or email pacecar1979@comcast.net) or Russ Wilcoxson (One of the Planners of this event, at 253/759-7211) know if you can make it. This will be a first-come, first served basis event.
As of now they need about 15 to 18 more cars, could be just a little more, need to get in touch with one of them to get your name added to their list of participants!
As of right now, I’m still headed up to Port Angeles for their car show to show them my support, besides having a homemade Breakfast at the Oak Table in Sequim on the way to the car show! I’m just getting this word out to everyone that might want to attend the parade and festival, sounds like a GREAT TIME! For those wanting to participate, please get in touch with either of the guys mentioned in this article and they will be glad to help you out and get you added to their list of participants!
